Union Station Chicago · A love story written in marble, fog, and light

There are sessions that change you. Not because of the light, or the location, or the way the fog rolled in off Lake Michigan that morning — though all of that was extraordinary. They change you because of who is standing in front of your lens.
Gabrielle and Nicholas came into my life five years ago. Nick is my fiancé's son. I have watched him grow into the man standing before me that morning — steady, tender, certain. And Gabrielle, with her quiet grace and the way she looks at him like he is the only fixed point in a spinning world.
I rarely get nervous behind the camera. Seventeen years, four continents, hundreds of couples — and yet standing in the great hall of Union Station Chicago, my hands were not entirely steady. Because this was not just a session. This was family.
We began at Union Station — that cathedral of American travel, all Beaux-Arts marble and vaulted light. The grand hall swallowed them whole and gave them back to me transformed: two people who had chosen each other, standing in a space that felt built for exactly this kind of declaration. Then we moved into the streets of downtown Chicago. The fog had rolled in overnight and refused to leave. It softened the skyline, wrapped the bridges in gauze, turned the city into something out of a dream neither of them wanted to wake from.
The black and whites tell the story I could not have planned. They are timeless in the way that only honest things are — two people uniting their destinies in the heart of a city that has seen a million love stories and somehow made theirs feel like the first.
Gabrielle. Nicholas. Thank you for letting me be nervous for you. It was the greatest honor.
Part I
Marble floors. Vaulted ceilings. The weight of a hundred years of arrivals and departures — and two people choosing each other in the middle of all of it.

Then the fog came
“We stepped out of Union Station and into a city that had wrapped itself in cloud. The fog had settled overnight and stayed — a gift I could not have ordered, a backdrop I could not have imagined.”

Part II
The Riverwalk. Michigan Avenue. Streets wrapped in morning fog. A city that held its breath while two people walked through it like they owned every inch.

Michigan Avenue
The Magnificent Mile, quiet in the morning fog. Just the two of them and a city that felt like it had been cleared just for this.
