Abby & Blaine
Greenhouse No. 7 · Milwaukee, Wisconsin

By ··Milwaukee Wedding Photography

Some weddings stay with you long after the last dance. Abby and Blaine's wedding was one of those days — the kind that reminds you exactly why you fell in love with this work in the first place.

From a quiet morning in Cedarburg to a golden hour on the Milwaukee lakefront, this day had everything: beauty, tenderness, laughter, and love in every single frame. When Abby reached out, she already had the venue. She had the vision. She had the man she wanted to marry. What she needed was someone who would see all of it — the details, the emotion, the love between her and her people — and capture it honestly. I am so glad she found me.

Chapter One: The PreparationsCedarburg, Wisconsin

There is something I always tell my brides: do not skip the getting-ready coverage. I know it can feel like a logistical afterthought — one more thing to schedule, one more hour to account for — but the truth is, the preparations are where the day begins. They are where the story starts.

Abby got ready at her sister's home in Cedarburg, a charming town just north of Milwaukee that feels like it was made for mornings like this. There is a particular kind of light that comes through the windows of a home on a wedding morning — soft, unhurried, full of anticipation — and Cedarburg had it in abundance.

These are the moments that disappear the fastest: the quiet ones. A mother fastening a button. A sister adjusting a veil. The first time a bride sees herself fully dressed, and the breath she takes before she turns around. These are not staged moments. You cannot recreate them. You can only be there when they happen — and I was.

Abby's dress was an absolute vision. Flowing, ethereal, and perfectly tailored to her, it was the delicate pearls hand-stitched across the bodice that made it truly unforgettable. Each one caught the light differently, creating a subtle shimmer that was somehow both understated and completely show-stopping. When she finally turned to face her family, there was not a dry eye in the room.

The relationship Abby shares with her parents and her sister is the kind that makes your heart ache in the best possible way. Her mother helped her into her dress with trembling hands and a smile that said everything words couldn't. Her father, when he first saw her, simply held her face in his hands and didn't say a word for a long moment. He didn't need to. And her sister — her maid of honor, her best friend — was by her side for every single moment, laughing through the tears, fixing the veil, squeezing her hand before she walked out the door. This is why the preparations matter. Not just for the photographs — though they are some of the most beautiful of the entire day — but because this is where the love lives before the ceremony begins.

Chapter Two: The CeremonyFirst Immanuel Lutheran Church, Milwaukee

Just five minutes from the house, First Immanuel Lutheran Church was the perfect setting for Abby and Blaine's ceremony. There is something timeless about a church wedding — the soaring ceilings, the filtered light through stained glass, the weight of something sacred and joyful happening all at once.

Blaine stood at the altar and watched the doors open, and the look on his face when he saw Abby for the first time in that dress — that is a photograph I will never forget taking. It was pure. It was real. It was everything.

The ceremony was filled with the kind of moments that remind you what all of this is actually about. Vows spoken with shaking voices. Rings slipped onto trembling fingers. A first kiss that drew applause from every corner of the room. And through it all, Abby's family — her parents, her sister, the people who have loved her longest — watching with full hearts from the front pew. By the time they walked back down the aisle together, husband and wife, the entire church was on its feet.

Chapter Three: The PortraitsVeterans Park · Milwaukee Lakefront

Abby has always loved the Milwaukee skyline. It is part of who she is — a Milwaukee girl through and through — and she wanted her wedding portraits to reflect that. So after the ceremony, we made our way to Veterans Park on the lakefront, where the city rises up behind you like a painting and Lake Michigan stretches out to the horizon.

The timing was perfect. The light was that golden-hour magic that only happens for about twenty minutes and makes everything look like a film still. The skyline glittered behind them, the lake breeze moved through Abby's veil, and Blaine held her like he never wanted to let go. I could have stayed in that moment forever.

If you are a Milwaukee bride looking for the most iconic outdoor portrait location in the city, Veterans Park is it. It never gets old. It never disappoints. The combination of the lakefront, the skyline, and the right light at the right time creates portraits that feel cinematic and deeply personal all at once.

Chapter Four: The ReceptionGreenhouse No. 7, Milwaukee

Greenhouse No. 7 is one of Milwaukee's most stunning wedding venues — a beautifully restored industrial greenhouse with soaring glass ceilings, natural light, and an atmosphere that feels both intimate and grand. The florals were breathtaking: soft whites, blush tones, and white floral arrangements that filled every table. Every corner told a story, and Abby and Blaine filled every one of them.

The reception was everything a Milwaukee wedding should be — full of warmth, full of people who genuinely love each other, and full of the kind of laughter that echoes off the walls long after the night is over. The toasts were heartfelt and hilarious in equal measure. The first dance was tender and slow. The speeches made people cry and then immediately laugh.

And then there was the signature cocktail: an espresso martini. Smooth, bold, and perfectly them. Every time I order one now, I will think of Abby and Blaine — of that room, that light, that night. Some details stay with you not because they are grand, but because they are perfectly, unmistakably theirs.

By the time the dance floor opened up, every single person in that room was exactly where they wanted to be. Abby and Blaine, thank you for trusting me with your day. From a quiet morning in Cedarburg to the altar at First Immanuel, from the Milwaukee lakefront at golden hour to the last song at Greenhouse No. 7 — it was an honor and a joy, and I will carry this day with me for a very long time.
